Description: Is Darwin's theory of evolution really the settled fact experts insist it is? Johnson, a Berkeley law professor specializing in logic, dissects Darwinism's scientific support and finds it woefully short on logic and severely lacking in confirmatory evidence. This rigorous---yet readable!---book is a great introduction to the controversy over evolution. 195 pages, softcover from InterVarsity.

Brief Description:

Of all the many creationist and evolutionist books I have read, this one is the ONLY truly objective book I have read so far. It was written by an academic lawyer whose job is to analyze the logic of arguments and then identify the assumptions that lie behind those arguments. He does not consider himself an evolutionist or a creationist, but rather an outsider who accepts both possibilities but also recognizes that both are based on wide assumptions and a lot of faith. He has done an excellent job of keeping this book objective and unbiased. It is a book that can be agreed upon and enjoyed by any true scientist (evolutionist, creationist or otherwise).
An Amazon.com Reader

In clear, concise chapters, Johnson offers a casual, reasoned and scientifically sound evaluation of the support for Darwinism--from fossil records to molecular biology. In a new afterword, he responds to his critics and their arguments. "Unquestionably the best critique of Darwinism I have ever read."--Michael Denton, author of Evolution: A Theory in Crisis.

Comments:

Dr. Phillip Johnson goes through the evidence for Darwinism one issue at a time (fossils, vertebrates, molecular evidence, etc.).  If the reader is not interested in detailed presentations and the use of logic in making argumentations then this book would not be appropriate.
